Together Housing
Signage Production & Installation
01. The Brief
Together Housing manages more than 37,000 homes across the North of England, with a commitment to keeping communities safe, accessible and well-presented. As part of their ongoing brand refresh, they appointed us to deliver a comprehensive signage replacement and wayfinding improvement programme across their portfolio.
The most recent phase focused on Yorkshire and Humberside, where Together Housing identified the need to modernise signage, remove outdated branding for Improved clarity and wayfinding for residents, visitors and contractors.
02. The Challenge
Together Housing provided a master list of over 5,000 properties that could potentially require new or updated signage. The challenge was to design a process that would:
- Accurately identify where new signage was needed
- Capture additional requirements from local teams
- Maintain brand consistency across different neighbourhoods
- Manage artwork, production and installation end-to-end
This required seamless coordination between our contracted surveyor, Together Housing’s Neighbourhood Officers, our design studio, printers, and fitters.
03. The Solution
1. Survey Strategy & Planning
Working with the project management team, we mapped out an efficient plan to professionally survey, plan and prioritise routes across Yorkshire and Humberside.
We organised on-site meetings between the surveyor and Together Housing’s Neighbourhood Officers, to ensure their input and local knowledge supported the project.
These sessions helped identify:
- Additional signage requests
- Identifying where signage exists
- What needs removing and also what needs adding
- Scheme-specific issues
- Safety, visibility or compliance considerations
This collaborative approach ensured each survey was complete, accurate and aligned with neighbourhood needs.
2. Data Processing & Approvals
Once surveys were submitted, our team developed the findings into structured approval forms. These enabled Together Housing to quickly review and confirm:
- Recommended signage types, sizes, wording (positive statements)
- Quantities
- Placement locations
- Notes on estate-specific requirements
This approval stage created clarity before artwork or production began.
3. Artwork Creation & Brand Consistency
Our design studio created new signage artwork in line with Together Housing’s brand guidelines.
This included:
- Designing each signage type to ensure clarity and consistency
- Refining layouts and specifications
- Preparing all final print-ready artwork
Together Housing reviewed and approved all designs prior to production.
4. Production & Installation
Following sign-off, we managed the process the signage production and installation the confirmed locations – ensuring accuracy, quality, and minimal disruption for residents.
Each step of the way we communicated the plans on a weekly basis, planning the routes to ensure effective and efficient installations.
With a dedicated team managing the whole process we were able to move quickly to produce new signage across the region, replacing old with new aligned to the Together Housing guidelines.
